"Thinking through the Full Consequences of New Specialty Pharmaceutical Plan Designs"
The cost of specialty pharmaceuticals has been of growing concern to employers over the past several years. However, as employers re-consider new plan design options it is critical they more fully understand the complete consequences of their decisions - consequences that include the impact of adherence and medical care on such outcomes as absence, disability employee performance and productivity. This workshop brought together leading experts to help participants think through implications of specialty pharmaceuticals. The speaker panel addressed topics such as:
  • The impact of low prevalence diseases (such as rheumatoid arthritis) that generate high direct and indirect costs
  • The review of a resource that provides a Primer for participants to better understand the nuances associated with specialty pharmacy
  • How to follow the dollar through the maze of specialty pharmacy and the potential impact on you as an employer and your employees
  • What is the impact of out-of-pocket costs on the employee and the employer
  • The significance of treating employees with specialty agents based on indications and not PBM contracts
  • What does good look like from an employer perspective? Examples will be highlighted from employers and/or coalitions on how they are addressing specialty pharmacy with the goal of improving outcomes while mitigating direct and indirect costs
  • The full speaker panel will address your questions and concerns
